NDE Principal Level III - Nuclear

Job Summary

Set up and calibrate NDE equipment for ultrasonic testing examinations, then conduct inspections according to established procedures in nuclear facilities. Interpret, evaluate, and document inspection results while communicating findings and technical recommendations to project teams. Perform hands-on troubleshooting of mechanical equipment issues and contribute to continuous improvement of in-house testing tools and software. Participate in business development by identifying project opportunities and support nuclear outage campaigns, accepting extensive travel and extended work hours as required. Maintain compliance with written procedures and quality practices in radiological and challenging field environments.

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalency with secondary education leading towards an AS/BS in science, materials, or engineering
  • 5+ years of hands-on nuclear industry experience as a Level II NDE examiner
  • 5+ years of hands-on nuclear experience with an Associate's or Bachelor's degree
  • Current Level II NDE certification in Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
  • Demonstrated hands-on nuclear facility experience
  • Strong understanding of basic physical NDE principles and processes
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) to document findings and convey technical information clearly
  • Ability to set up, calibrate, and operate NDE equipment independently
  • Competency in interpreting and evaluating inspection results
  • Hands-on troubleshooting capabilities for mechanical issues
  • Willingness to accept extensive travel assignments and extended work hours
  • Ability to work in less-than-favorable conditions including radiological environments and physically challenging activities
  • Ability to maintain focus in hazardous industrial environments (heights, scaffolds, noisy locations, operating machinery)
  • Professional demeanor with strong ethical behavior and respect for peers
  • Team-oriented mindset and commitment to safety compliance
  • Accept extensive travel assignments and extended work hours/days/weeks as required

Desired Qualifications

  • Level III NDE certification in UT
  • UT certification with Phased Array (PAUT) endorsements
  • Automated UT experience
  • EPRI PDI qualifications or demonstrated ability to acquire them
  • Working knowledge of ASME Codes and nuclear industry regulations
  • Experience with reactor coolant system or Class 1/2 component examinations
  • Knowledge of nuclear plant materials and degradation mechanisms
  • Previous nuclear outage campaign experience
  • Active participation in industry training programs or technical conferences
  • Additional NDE method certifications beyond UT
  • Advanced technical writing and reporting skills
