NC PRE K TEACHER ASSISTANT

Assist in planning a developmentally appropriate curriculum to address the needs of the whole child and work cooperatively with the teacher to provide integrated, exploratory activities and materials with a major focus on children’s learning through play. Maintain an environment with a major focus on child-initiated learning using multiple learning centers; help provide meaningful learning experiences in which each child can perform successfully in a pleasant atmosphere. Maintain open communication with the teacher concerning each individual child’s need and progress; perform duties assigned by the pre-kindergarten teacher; help maintain individual records and documentation for each child; assist in planning and implementation of parent involvement activities; participate in conferences and professional development pertinent to job responsibility; assist with screening of students for possible pre-k participation/enrollment; and perform other duties as assigned by the site principal and/or supervisor.
