Job Summary
Assist in planning a developmentally appropriate curriculum for pre-kindergarten, collaborate with the teacher to provide integrated, exploratory activities with a focus on children’s learning through play, and help maintain an environment with child-initiated learning across multiple learning centers. Support meaningful learning experiences, maintain open communication with the teacher about each child’s needs and progress, perform duties assigned by the pre-kindergarten teacher, maintain individual records and documentation, assist with planning and implementing parent involvement activities, participate in conferences and professional development, assist with screening for pre-k participation/enrollment, and support the site principal or supervisor with other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Currently pursuing or holding Associate Degree in birth-through kindergarten, child development, early childhood education, or an early childhood education related field or a CDA credential
- Six semester hours of coursework in early childhood education OR two years of work experience in an early childhood setting as outlined by ESSA
