Job Summary
Naval Architect role supporting Gibbs & Cox/Leidos with end-to-end ship design from conceptual through detail design and post-delivery support. Responsibilities include hydrostatics (weight estimates, intact/damage stability), hydrodynamics (hull design, resistance, seakeeping), ship arrangements and topside integration, development of requirements, executing naval architecture analyses, leading trade studies, preparing technical reports and engineering documentation, and proactive interface with customers and stakeholders. Requires U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain Secret security clearance; BS or advanced degree in Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering; 2-4 years’ experience; proficiency with naval architecture software; strong communication, time management, and collaborative/team-oriented skills. Preferred: PE license in Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering; experience with US Navy ship design and construction.
Required Qualifications
- BS or Advanced Degree in Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering
- 2-4 years of professional engineering experience
- Experience leading/guiding multidisciplinary technical teams preferred
- Proficiency in Naval Architecture software tools such as: RHINO, GHS, SHCP, NavCAD, AutoCAD, MS-Office
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team
- Experience with requirements sets such as ABS and US Navy
