Naval Architect Intern/Co op - Halifax

Job Summary
Conduct technical investigations into ship equipment malfunctions, including failure analysis and solution development. Prepare and review technical documentation, validate design change records, and support physical configuration audits of ship systems. Execute detailed naval architecture tasks such as requirements analysis, material compatibility investigations, and weight & moment assessments. Manage lifting appliance certification, conduct risk and hazard assessments, and ensure compliance with hull-related codes. Report to the Engineering Services Manager to support the Thales LCMM & Engineering Team on various technical activities for the Royal Canadian Navy.
Required Qualifications
- Student enrolled in a Bachelor of Engineering Program in Canadian University, with a focus in Naval Architecture
- Eligible or able to obtain authorization for access to hardware, software or technical information controlled under the Canadian Export Control List and/or the US Export Administration Regulations (EAR)
- Eligible to the Canadian Controlled Goods Program
- Able to obtain a Canadian NATO Secret clearance
- 40 hours per week
- Work at shipyards and onboard ships
- Potential occasional domestic travel
- Halifax, Nova Scotia based position
- Work from the Thales Halifax Office in Burnside
- Occasionally have to visit the DND Facilities and HMC Dockyard in Halifax
Desired Qualifications
- Senior Student in Naval Architectural Engineering preferred
- Prior experience with the preparation of technical reports
- Microsoft Office Suite
