Naval Architect Intern/Co op - Halifax

Job Summary
Conduct technical investigations into ship equipment malfunctions, including failure analysis and solution development. Prepare and review technical documentation, validate design change records, and support physical configuration audits of ship systems. Execute detailed naval architecture tasks such as requirements analysis, material compatibility investigations, and weight and moment assessments. Manage lifting appliance certification and ensure compliance with hull-related classification society and polar code requirements. Report to the Engineering Services Manager while collaborating with engineers and life cycle managers. Work 40 hours per week in a hybrid role, potentially visiting dockyards and onboard ships.
Required Qualifications
- Student enrolled in a Bachelor of Engineering Program in Canadian University, with a focus in Naval Architecture
- Eligible or able to obtain authorization for access to hardware, software or technical information controlled under the Canadian Export Control List and/or the US Export Administration Regulations (EAR)
- Eligible to the Canadian Controlled Goods Program
- Able to obtain a Canadian NATO Secret clearance
- Senior Student in Naval Architectural Engineering
- 40 hours per week
- Work at shipyards and onboard ships
- Potential occasional domestic travel
- Halifax, Nova Scotia based position
- Work from the Thales Halifax Office in Burnside
- Occasionally have to visit the DND Facilities and HMC Dockyard in Halifax
