Job Summary
Natural Resources Technician supporting Yokota Air Base (Tokyo, Japan) under CSU's CEMML Early Career Development Program. Responsibilities include avian surveys, vegetation surveys, vegetation management, species assessments, invasive species management, sensitive species management, outdoor recreation area management, nuisance wildlife management, environmental education events, data QA/QC, document management, and GIS/data management. The role emphasizes field- and collaboration-focused work with military personnel, contractors, and conservation partners on US military lands; requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and to meet eligibility requirements to work in Japan under SOFA. The program provides hands-on, mentored experience bridging academic training and professional practice in federal lands management. Location is Yokota Air Base, Japan, with no visa sponsorship provided and housing/relocation not offered.
Required Qualifications
- Pursuing or completed bachelor’s degree in wildlife biology, ecology, botany, ecosystem sciences, or a related field
- Minimum of 3 months of related experience
- Professional experience conducting avian and/or mammalian field surveys
- Familiarity with US military customs and courtesies
- Eligibility to work in Japan under SOFA
- Must be able to obtain CAC and pass background checks
