Job Summary
Native Language Support On Demand Interpreter in Hamilton, OH (Part-Time) provides interpretation/translation for staff, students with limited English proficiency, and families; supports enrollment, transitions, and communications between school and home; administers language proficiency screener assessments and supports state/local testing; participates in ETR/IEP/504 meetings; maintains confidentiality under FERPA and Title III; collaborates with district administrators, ESL teachers, and other staff; uses technology to translate/interpret forms and materials; attends conferences, open houses, and community events; acts as liaison with district and community while upholding district policies and expectations.
Required Qualifications
- Must be able to act as a native language support/translator in the target language for staff and limited English proficient students and families.
- Must communicate clearly with appropriate grammar and syntax in the target language and in English in reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
- Assist in preparation and delivery of the education program under supervision of assigned staff.
- Assist in direct supervision of students as directed by staff.
- Assist with language needs/communication with families by phone or email.
- Utilize technology to translate/interpret forms in the target language.
- Assist in enrollment and transition processes.
- Administer screener assessments to measure English language proficiency.
- Support state and local assessment as directed by district coordinators.
- Comply with confidentiality and FERPA and Title III regulations.
- Conduct interpreter protocol and speak respectfully and directly.
- Serve as interpreter during ETR/IEP/504 meetings as needed.
- Act as liaison with district, community, staff, students, and parents with tact and diplomacy.
- Attend conference nights and open houses; collaborate with district administrators and ESL teachers.
- Participate in meetings, workshops, and professional development to maintain interpreter skills.
- Adhere to district policies; attend meetings and in-services as required.
- Interact with Superintendent/Board as requested.
- Stay informed on guidelines and policies related to state/local testing for ELL services.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors and directors.
