Job Summary
Report weekly on defense, national security, export controls, cybersecurity, rare earths, quantum, AI, and semiconductors, mixing reported stories with 500–1,000 word explanatory pieces. Write at varying altitudes, creating public-facing journalism alongside briefings for national security and commercial audiences, plus two deep-dive features annually of 2,000–3,000 words. Go where stories lead by developing new beats supported by WireScreen's data platform. Collaborate with GTM to attend briefings and customer meetings, and represent WireScreen at events, conferences, and media appearances. Occasionally co-author stories with journalists from The Wire China, The New York Times, and other publications.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience as a journalist, writer, or analyst
- Investigative experience
- A published body of work: news pieces or research reports
- Fluency in the beat: significant experience reporting on and deep knowledge of business, China, national/economic security, or strategically important topics in this space
