Job Summary

Manage National Honor Society recruitment by identifying eligible juniors and seniors with a 3.5+ GPA, distributing applications, and explaining selection criteria. Evaluate applicants based on leadership, service, and character, then facilitate faculty council reviews for final induction determinations. Oversee member relations, including appeals and removals per bylaws, while enforcing district conduct rules and academic integrity standards. Handle fundraising permissions and cash securely, ensuring all funds are turned into the office immediately. Supervise student activities, field trips, and transportation, conducting background checks on outside service providers. Model professional behavior and respond to parent or student inquiries within 24 hours.

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to identify eligible juniors and seniors with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above
  • Ability to email eligible students to notify them of their status
  • Ability to hold a meeting to distribute applications and explain the selection process
  • Ability to serve as a primary resource for students regarding application questions and society requirements
  • Ability to collect completed applications by an established deadline
  • Ability to evaluate applicants based on leadership, service, and character
  • Ability to facilitate a faculty council review of applications
  • Ability to make final determinations on student inductions
  • Ability to provide explanations to students not accepted into the society
  • Ability to manage student membership, removals, and appeals according to established NHS bylaws
  • Ability to obtain prior written permission from building principals or the activities director before initiating fundraising efforts
  • Ability to ensure funds raised are turned into the office promptly
  • Ability to maintain qualified adult supervision of students during meetings, activities, or while using school facilities
  • Ability to ensure outside service providers working with students undergo a comprehensive background check
  • Ability to ensure members adhere to the district's Good Conduct Rule
  • Ability to address behaviors like plagiarism immediately
  • Ability to ensure all students have signed permission slips for field trips
  • Ability to oversee student transportation using school-district vehicles
  • Ability to act as a chaperone on activity trips
  • Ability to conduct oneself in a professional manner following the Smart Dress policy
  • Ability to check voicemail and email daily
  • Ability to respond to parent or student inquiries by the end of the following business day
