Job Summary
The Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society (CPAWS) seeks two volunteer Trustees for its National Board who possess governance experience and a strong commitment to conservation. Ideal candidates will include a seasoned Executive Leader or Senior Fundraising Leader with proven experience in overseeing significant budgets and strategic growth. Responsibilities involve providing governance oversight rather than operational management, ensuring fiduciary oversight, monitoring organizational performance, and maintaining mission alignment. The roles also require strong communication skills and the ability to engage in broad stakeholder relationships.
Required Qualifications
- Current or former CEO, President, Executive Director, or C-suite executive
- Experience in leading growth, transformation, or strategic renewal
- Experience managing multi-million dollar budgets and enterprise risks
- Strong board–management partnership experience
- Public policy and government relations experience
- Senior development executive experience
- Demonstrated success in relationship-building with major donors, foundations and corporate partners
- Experience in fundraising and development strategy
Additional Requirements
- Must have commitment to CPAWS’ mission and conservation outcomes
- Governance experience (non-profit or corporate board experience preferred)
- Commitment to diversity and Indigenous reconciliation
