Job Summary
Nanophotonics Engineer/Scientist to join the Spectacles team at Snap Inc. Develop AR waveguide designs and optical systems for next-generation AR displays. Use in-house optical design tools and analyze advanced optical structures; contribute to new waveguide designs suitable for high-volume production at low cost; incorporate data from physical measurements (SEM, AFM) into models; collaborate with cross-functional teams to bring designs to manufacture. Strong emphasis on physics-based design, optical modelling (FDTD/RCWA/FMM), optical raytracing, polarization analysis (Jones calculus), and scripting with Python; experience with collaborative codebases using Git. PhD in math/physics/engineering or 4+ years industry experience required; preferred: experience in nanophotonics manufacturing, diffractive optics, nanoimprint lithography, optical coatings; ability to work in a fast-paced R&D environment; office 4+ days/week in the Abingdon, UK location.
