Job Summary
Part-time NAGPRA Specialist at BYU's Museum of Peoples and Cultures, responsible for compliance with NAGPRA, providing administrative support, and coordinating with Native American communities. Requires a Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience.
Required Qualifications
- A firm commitment to the mission of BYU
- Bachelor’s degree in archaeology, anthropology, museum studies, Native American studies, or other cognate field, and 2+ years of related museum collections work experience, or equivalent combination of education & experience
- Computer proficiency, including familiarity with Microsoft Office and Excel, and demonstrated ability to learn new systems quickly
- Strong communication skills, with an ability to coordinate and communicate clearly with both colleagues and the public
- Experience working independently and with a team
- Knowledge of archaeological methods and practices
- Knowledge of prehistory and history of western North America
Desired Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in anthropology, archaeology, museum studies, Native American Studies, or other cognate field
- Knowledge of or familiarity with NAGPRA regulations
- Experience working with Native American nations and communities
Additional Requirements
- Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints must hold and be worthy to hold a current temple recommend.
