Job Summary
N/C Programmer at Magellan Aerospace, New York, focused on developing, optimizing, and maintaining CNC milling programs for aerospace/defense components using CATIA V5 CAM. Responsibilities include interpreting engineering drawings and 3D models, selecting tooling and fixtures, generating and validating CNC programs, overseeing CNC operators, conducting quality checks, and collaborating with engineers and quality teams to improve processes and ensure safety and regulatory compliance. Requires an Associate’s degree in CNC programming or related field, 2-5 years of CNC programming experience (up to 5-axis), proficiency with CATIA V5 and familiarity with Siemens 840D/Fanuc/Mazak controls, and strong machining/processQuality control knowledge. Full-time with occasional overtime and potential travel to sister sites.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in CNC programming, machine tool technology, or a related field
- Minimum 2-5 years of experience in CNC programming, up-to 5-axis experience
- Experience in the aerospace, defense, or medical industries strongly preferred
- Familiarity with Siemens 840D, Fanuc and Mazak controls
- Turning or Mill-turn experience is a plus
- Proficient in CATIA V5 software
- Familiarity with any other CAD/CAM software is a plus
- Strong understanding of machining processes, materials, and quality control standards
- Experience in creating and optimizing complex CNC programs for precision machining
- Strong understanding of CNC machining processes, tooling, and equipment
- Familiarity with G-code and M-codes
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and optimize machining operations
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Attention to detail and the ability to maintain high standards of precision and quality
- Full-time position with occasional overtime as needed
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, including exposure to noise, machinery, and potential hazards, while adhering to all safety protocols
- Occasional travel may be required to support sister manufacturing sites
