Job Summary
Teach IB MYP Mathematics on campus for grades 6–10 within the International Baccalaureate framework. Design and deliver concept-based, inquiry-driven mathematics instruction aligned with IB standards; develop curriculum documentation, unit plans, and syllabi; assess student progress using formative and summative assessments; lead advisory activities and foster an inclusive, student-centered learning environment. Collaborate with colleagues to ensure interdisciplinary connections, support differentiated instruction, and communicate effectively with families. Uphold IB philosophy, Cognia/CIS accreditation expectations, and the school’s mission while promoting critical thinking, collaboration, and global-context applications in mathematics.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Education, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred
- Minimum three years of successful teaching experience in mathematics at the middle school and/or secondary level
- Experience teaching within the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) preferred; IB training or certification strongly desired
- Demonstrated knowledge of mathematics content and the ability to engage students in inquiry-based, conceptual learning and problem-solving

- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with students, colleagues, parents, and the broader school community
- Flexible team player with a positive, solution-oriented mindset

- Adhere to professional expectations established by Carolina Prep and accrediting bodies, including Cognia and the International Baccalaureate Organization, implementing standards and practices for the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) and IB Diploma Programme (DP)
- Design and deliver MYP and DP curricula using concept-based, inquiry-driven instruction aligned with global contexts, key concepts, and assessment criteria
- Develop, maintain, and submit curriculum documentation, unit plans, and syllabi to ensure transparency, accreditation compliance, and effective program delivery
- Collaborate with colleagues to refine written curriculum, emphasizing interdisciplinary connections, student agency, and authentic, student-led learning experiences
- Assess student progress consistently and provide timely feedback through Toddle, including formative and summative assessments and narrative reporting
- Support Student Support Plans and differentiated instruction to meet diverse learner needs
- Foster a classroom culture aligned with the IB principals, promoting critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and intercultural understanding
- Lead advisory responsibilities, including academic monitoring, service learning, and student-led conferences
- Maintain professional, responsive communication with families and colleagues, supporting program alignment and continuous improvement
- Ensure student safety, well-being, and social-emotional development at all times
- Foster an inclusive, equitable, and diverse learning community
- Remain student-centered, collegial, passionate, innovative
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Upper School Director, Middle School Director or Head of School in support of the school’s mission and programs
- Function effectively in a fast-paced school environment, managing a wide variety of priorities, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts
- Demonstrates warmth, patience, flexibility, and a genuine respect for young children
- Work primarily in a traditional classroom environment, with daily periods of time outdoors
- Supervise groups of students and regularly engage with parents, staff, and visitors
- Perform physical tasks associated with classroom instruction and supervision, including occasionally lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs.
