Job Summary
Draft Statements of Work for defect resolution and review maintenance instructions to ensure service providers have sufficient information. Support Ship Maintenance Leads in tracking documentation and notifications within Thales tools, executing assigned actions to maintain workflow momentum for all maintenance activities and Quick Response defects. Organize Objective Quality Evidence to support internal close-out processes and consolidate work-related documentation. Attend weekly Plan of the Week meetings to capture, format, and distribute accurate meeting minutes. Gather data and present materials for Material State Disclosure Conferences and key performance metric reviews. Comply with all Health, Safety & Environment legislative requirements and promote Thales's HS&E leadership. This entry-level development role provides a direct pathway to comprehensive marine maintenance and project coordination expertise for new graduates.
Required Qualifications
- Regulatory Compliance Requirements Requires direct or indirect access to hardware, software, technology or technical data controlled under the Canadian Export Control List, the ITAR or the EAR
- Requires a positive Controlled Goods assessment as you will have direct access to hardware, software, technology or technical data controlled under the Canadian Controlled Goods Program
- Required to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance at the NATO Secret Level
- A recent graduate possessing an Engineering Degree or a technical diploma in Project Management, Engineering Technology, Maritime Studies or a related marine technical field from a recognized university or college program
- Demonstrated ability to work with and organize data sets with a high degree of accuracy
- Strong communication and reporting skills with the ability to confidently interface between various internal and external stakeholders
- Strong organizational and time management skills, capable of balancing multiple support priorities in a fast-paced waterfront environment
- A natural collaborator who fosters cooperative working relationships across multi-disciplinary teams
- Strong computer literacy, with proven experience with Microsoft products especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint essential
- Schedule: 40 Hours per week during Core Business Hours Monday-Friday
- Will be required to undertake inspections, including confined space entry, on Naval ships involving bending and twisting
- Tasks may also require working at heights
- Must meet all federal government requirements to access Canadian government facilities, including naval dockyards
Desired Qualifications
- A foundational understanding of Marine Maintenance, defect resolution or general project coordination principles is desirable
- Previous experience with document management or enterprise systems (SAP/DRMIS, MAXIMO, JIRA) desirable
- Prior co-op internship, or educational projects within the defense, military or marine maintenance /ship repair sectors desirable
