Job Summary
Provide spiritual care, mentorship, and guidance to Butler's diverse Muslim student community through regular drop-in hours and individual engagement. Advise and support student leaders in planning prayer gatherings, study circles, and cultural events while collaborating with campus partners to address religious and institutional needs. Develop experiential programs that deepen understanding of Islamic beliefs, practices, and communities across campus, and execute year-round outreach to prospective students and families in partnership with Admissions and The Compass Center. Serve as a campus resource for interfaith engagement and contribute to broader Culture & Inclusion initiatives under the direction of the Director.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- At least two years of experience supporting college students or emerging adults in higher education, religious, or community-based settings
- Demonstrated knowledge of Islamic beliefs, practices, cultures, and communities, including the diversity within Islam
- Ability to provide culturally responsive mentorship, spiritual care, and guidance to students
- Strong communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, exercise sound judgment, center student needs, and work effectively across diverse perspectives
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree in divinity, Islamic studies, religious studies, higher education, student affairs, counseling, or a related field
- Experience working in higher education, campus ministry, chaplaincy, or student affairs
- Experience with interfaith engagement, religious diversity, or diversity and inclusion initiatives
- Training or experience in Islamic spiritual care, chaplaincy, or religious leadership
- Experience advising, mentoring, or coaching student leaders
- Established relationships with local or regional Muslim communities
- Experience with prospect
