Job Summary
Conduct personalized, culturally sensitive music therapy sessions for hospitalized patients with neurological disorders, including Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, and dementia. Collaborate with neurologists, nurses, and medical residents to design intervention protocols targeting hospital-acquired delirium in older adults. Plan, evaluate, and document sessions using theory-based frameworks while adapting approaches to patient responses and unique needs. Strategize with the research team to troubleshoot barriers to delivery and ensure interventions suit diverse patient populations in an acute hospital setting.
Required Qualifications
- Board-certified music therapist (MT-BC license)
- At least 3 years of experience in neurologic music therapy or music therapy in older adults
- Bachelor of Science or higher - Music Therapy from an accredited program
- Knowledge about theoretical frameworks for neurologic music therapy
- Experience working with older adults with cognitive impairment and dementia
- Comfort in the context of a patient with delirium, including behavioral disturbances and agitation
- Willingness and ability to adapt the music therapy intervention to patients experiencing delirium, behavioral disturbances, and agitation
- Ability to work independently
- Contribution to the overall success of the team
- Flexibility in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Completion of a background check
- Vaccination against COVID-19
- Reception of a booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine
Desired Qualifications
