Job Summary
Coordinate and develop the in-school music program with staff, producing two school-wide concerts annually and assisting in assemblies, graduations, and after-school activities. Plan comprehensive lessons with a full scope and sequencing, reflecting on processes to implement improvements. Serve as school music faculty across five boroughs, modeling quality singing and leading groups of up to 30 children. Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship, as H1B is not provided. This non-profit partners with NYC Public Schools to place music teachers in curricula, serving over 18,000 children to support social and emotional well-being and equity.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in a Music/Arts or Related Field
- 1-3 years of teaching groups of up to 30 children for an organization or other employer
- Ability to model quality singing in front of children
- Sound musical knowledge
- Knowledge of musical pedagogy practices
- ability to walk up several flights of stairs
- lift up to 15lbs of equipment
- Applicants must be authorized to work in The United States without requiring sponsorship
Desired Qualifications
- Master's in Music Education or Related Field
- Certified to teach in the state of New York or in any other state
- 3-5 years of experience teaching in New York City Public Schools
- Singing, conducting, keyboard, guitar and presentation skills
- Prior experience in teaching Band, Orchestra, Modern Band and Choir
- Comfortability with Music Technology Software such as Soundtrap
