Job Summary
Experienced orchestra educator sought to teach violin and cello to students in grades 6–12 within Hoboken Public Schools. Responsibilities include planning and delivering engaging instruction through small-group lessons and large ensemble rehearsals; developing fundamental string techniques (instrument care, posture, finger placement, intonation, bow hold, pizzicato/arco, tone production, articulation, reading music notation, rhythm and counting, ensemble performance); and collaborating across performing arts programs. Candidates with additional experience in choral music, vocal ensembles, musical direction, accompanying, or pit orchestras are encouraged to apply. Requires NJ Teaching Certificate for Music (Limited CE/CEAS/CE/Provisional or Standard), Endorsement 2100, and successful criminal history background check, plus proof of US citizenship or legal resident status. Responsibilities also include coordinating classroom tasks, aligning with New Jersey Learning Standards, developing lesson plans and instructional materials, monitoring progress, maintaining records, and engaging with parents and staff. Compensation as per HEA Contract; mandatory orientation in late August.
