Music/Performing Arts Middle School Teacher

Music/Performing Arts Middle School Teacher responsible for delivering comprehensive music instruction using Orff and Kodaly methods, teaching singing, dance, movement, instrumental work (recorder, Orff instruments, percussion), developing music literacy and notation skills, planning and coordinating multiple school-wide performances, and collaborating with Enrichment and Operations to support academic and cultural goals. Responsibilities include designing assessments aligned to academic standards, supporting classroom coverage and school functions, participating in curriculum development and team planning, maintaining classroom management aligned with Uncommon Schools’ practices, communicating effectively with students and families, and engaging in a three-week staff orientation. Qualifications include a BA/BM in Music or Music Education or Performance, experience teaching general and vocal music to elementary students, Kodaly/Orff experience with preferred levels, strong classroom management and communication skills, and proficiency in piano/vocal with recorder and basic guitar knowledge; state certification is helpful but not required.
