Job Summary
Provide private or semi-private guitar and bass instruction using a proprietary curriculum, directing small groups in playing, performing, and recording original and cover songs. Instruct students on techniques for small ensembles and support their placement in pop/rock groups. Move, set up, and break down equipment at the school and events, while assisting with basic repairs. Must be physically present for scheduled lessons and administrative duties in a fast-paced environment. Multi-instrumentalists are strongly preferred to provide band coaching for live performance and recordings.
Required Qualifications
- Must demonstrate an understanding of music concepts and be able to communicate those concepts to students
- Must play a musical instrument
- Must demonstrate the ability to run basic sound equipment
- Must be able to receive constructive feedback on teaching techniques and apply the feedback to new teaching situations and environments
- Must be able to be physically present at B2R for scheduled lessons and administrative responsibilities
- Advanced knowledge of music theory and technique relevant to primary instruments
- Effective time management and organizational skills
- Ability to operate basic office equipment, i.e. telephones, photocopiers and computers
- Ability to interact effectively with the public
- Ability to work effectively with B2R staff and management
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment
- Ability to adapt to change in the workplace
- Ability to pass a background check
- Teaching certificate and or degrees in music
- Experience in the subject area
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software
- Must be proficient English speaking and writing skills
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, travel up and down stairs, crouch, stoop and reach
- Ability to lift and move the equipment typically associated with B2R's day-to-day operation, e.g., amplifiers, keyboards, recording equipment, light furniture, etc.
Desired Qualifications
- Multi-instrumentalists are strongly preferred
- Teaching certificate and or degrees in music preferred
- those who are currently enrolled in a music degree program will also be considered
- Additional language(s) are a plus
