Job Summary
Directs the parish music program for liturgical celebrations, collaborating with the Pastor and parish staff to plan and execute music; selects and plans music; manages the budget; coordinates musicians for Sunday and major celebrations (including weddings and funerals); develops repertoire; trains cantors and musicians; provides liturgical formation and guidance to staff and parishioners; stays current with liturgy and music developments; recruits and fosters unity among parish musicians; supports staff in coordinating music for sacramental celebrations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Music or related field or an equivalent combination of education/experience
- Knowledge of Church music literature in all forms and styles for congregations, choirs, vocalists, and instrumentalists
- Proficiency in Spanish and fluency with a Spanish repertoire
- Proficiency in liturgical principles and ability to make musical/pastoral judgments for liturgy
- Proficiency in at least one performance area (e.g., keyboard, choral, voice)
- Practicing Catholic who supports the teachings of the Catholic Church
