Job Summary
Lead K–12 inquiry and discussion-based tours and workshops onsite at the Morgan in Spanish and English, and assist with family, multigenerational, teen, college, and teacher programs on weekdays and weekends. Prepare program supplies for tours and workshops while staying up to date on best practices in informal learning and museum teaching to incorporate strategies into daily programs. Attend paid trainings on new exhibition content, pedagogy, and teaching strategies throughout the year. Commit to supporting the Museum's accessible and inclusive engagement goals. Lead a minimum of 24 programs per year, with weekday morning availability and approximately 2–3 tours weekly depending on the time of year.
Required Qualifications
- Fluency in the Spanish language
- Experience in a museum or informal learning environment
- Proficiency using inquiry- and discussion-based engagement techniques with a range of audiences
- A comprehensive understanding of current museum education theory and best practices
- Familiarity with the New York City Department of Education learning standards and curricula
- A combination of education and/or experience equivalent to a four-year degree or a degree in education, museum studies, art history, history, or literature
- Ability to be mobile in public spaces for several hours at a time
- Ability to set up and break down workshops and programs
- Part-time as needed; primarily Tuesday–Friday with some evening and weekend opportunities
- Approximately 2–3 tours per week, depending on time of year
- Lead a minimum of 24 K–12 school, family, teen, college, and teacher programs per year
- Weekday morning availability
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of accessible programming and universal design for learning
- Background in leading explorations of written material and emphasizing the relationship between text and image
- Experience leading art workshops, including drawing, painting, collage, and/or bookmaking
