Job Summary

Deliver curriculum-based learning programmes for schools and education groups, including Ministry of Education Enhancing Local Curriculum (ELC) initiatives. Create memorable educational experiences by collaborating with teachers, whānau, and community stakeholders to connect learners with Rotorua's history, culture, and heritage. Support the development of resources that bring museum collections and local stories to life while evaluating programme outcomes. This role reports to the Education Lead at Rotorua Museum Te Whare Taonga o Te Arawa, based across Te Aka Mauri – Rotorua Library and Museum. The position requires a formal teaching qualification, deep understanding of the New Zealand Curriculum and Te Marautanga Aotearoa, and strong communication skills. Fluency in te reo Māori and experience teaching in both English and te reo Māori are significant advantages.

Required Qualifications

  • strong appreciation of Mātauranga Māori

  • ability to develop and deliver programmes in both te reo Māori and English
