Job Summary

Perform daily gallery security duties to safeguard the permanent collection and special exhibitions while maintaining an active, alert presence in assigned areas. Clearly communicate museum policies and procedures to visitors, provide accurate information about exhibitions and collections, and monitor for suspicious behavior or hazards. Respond promptly to medical, safety, and life-safety emergencies, facilitating evacuation procedures when required, and operate communication tools to document incidents. Move or reposition light furniture and equipment as needed. Work evenings, weekends, and special events as scheduled, completing all required onboarding and training modules.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to give clear instructions and communicate calmly during emergencies
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and respond quickly to incidents anywhere in the building
  • Ability to operate two-way radios, computers, and basic communication tools
  • Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional customer service and engage effectively with diverse audiences
  • Ability to remain focused, professional, and adaptable in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with peers and management
  • Flexibility with break schedules, assignments, and operational changes
  • Reliability, punctuality, and a strong sense of responsibility
  • Availability to work weekends, at minimum one day

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience as a security control room operator/security operations center (overseeing many surveillance screens, handling multiple radios, etc.)
  • Experience in security services or basic use of security systems
  • Strong customer service background
  • Experience handling security operations center, multiple screens and radios
  • Museum experience and general knowledge of modern or contemporary art
  • Interest or background in art, museums, or cultural institutions
  • Experience in visitor-facing, hospitality, or public engagement roles
  • Fluency in a second language
