Job Summary

Greet museum visitors, answer inquiries, and guide tours while operating point-of-sale systems for admissions and gift shop transactions. Conduct historic skill workshops, site tours, and school field trips, safely demonstrating techniques in cooking, blacksmithing, and fiber arts. Assist with exhibit setup, gallery security monitoring, and cleaning high-traffic areas. Research primary and secondary sources to create interpretive programs and social media content. Perform daily cash counts and unlock/lock the museum. Work Tuesday through Friday, 8:30am–4:00pm, with occasional weekends, reporting to the Curator of Education.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
At least six (6) months of experience in customer service, retail, or front desk operations
Possession of a valid driver's license
Friendly, approachable demeanor with a positive attitude
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, policies and procedures, and work independently or as part of a team
Ability to adapt verbal and visual communication to diverse audience groups
Basic historic research and content writing skills
Attention to detail and ability to remain alert during long periods of standing or walking
Comfort with engaging diverse groups of visitors, including children and seniors
Knowledge of basic accounting and cash handling
Knowledge of and interest in Greeley, Weld County, and Colorado history
Knowledge of or interest in historic skillsets ranging from skills such as fibercraft, historic cooking, blacksmithing, printing, and/or similar others
Experience working with audiences from children to seniors in informal or formal learning environments
Experience in third-person interpretation techniques
Computer skills, including the ability to utilize Microsoft Office programs (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) and learn and experiment with new software and systems
Interpersonal skills, including the ability to facilitate interaction, communication, and teamwork between others
Oral, written, and listening communication skills, including the ability to accurately interpret what others are saying and convey messages, information, concepts, and details accurately and clearly
Ability to present oneself professionally in appearance, demeanor, and effort

Ability to lift and move up to 40 pounds unassisted
Stamina sufficient to stand and walk for long periods of time
