Job Summary
Install sanitary sewer, storm drainage, and watermain systems by setting, aligning, and grading pipe according to drawings and field direction. Support manhole, catch basin, and hydrant installations while managing trenching, shoring, and compaction activities. Use lasers, levels, and grade stakes to verify elevations, slopes, and connections throughout underground utility work. Communicate grade conflicts and utility issues to supervision and maintain organized work zones around active equipment and traffic.
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Municipal Pipe Layer, Pipe Layer, Underground Utility Worker, or senior civil labourer supporting municipal pipe crews
- Must be eligible to work in Canada
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence and reliable transportation
- Ability to lift, carry, shovel, rake, climb in and out of trenches, and perform physical work throughout the shift
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and site conditions
- Ability to travel to project locations throughout Western Canada as required
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in municipal infrastructure, civil construction, sewer and water, storm systems, drainage, roadworks, utilities, or earthworks
- Experience working with grade stakes, pipe lasers, levels, slopes, offsets, and pipe alignment
- Experience with manholes, catch basins, trench boxes, shoring, utility tie-ins, hydrants, valves, and grade control
- Confined Space, Ground Disturbance, CSTS, WHMIS, First Aid, or other safety certifications
- Ability to travel to project locations throughout Western Canada as required
