Job Summary
As a Process Safety Engineer at ExxonMobil in India, you will join the Bengaluru Process Safety team to deliver engineering and risk management solutions for operating facilities worldwide. Responsibilities include leading hazard analyses (HAZOP), quantitative and qualitative risk screenings, consequence modeling (PHAST and other methods), Vapor Cloud Explosion risk analysis, defining fire protection design requirements, and providing capital project risk assessment and management support. The role requires collaboration with risk owners across business lines, development of design safeguards for Major Accident scenarios, and travel to ExxonMobil/third-party facilities as needed. Strong communication, initiative, and decision-making abilities are essential, along with experience in risk assessment methodologies and familiarity with industry codes and practices. You should be able to work across time zones and be reasonably mobile to support global projects, with non-standard hours as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or related Petroleum Engineering field
- Minimum 7 years relevant working experience in petrochemical, oil and gas industry in Technical, Operations, Consultancy, Process Design, or Engineering functions
- Minimum 3 years of work experience in specific Process Safety Engineering/Loss Prevention and Risk Engineering job roles
- Hazard identification, risk analyses and assessment methodologies (e.g. Hazard Identification (HAZID), Inherent SHE Review, PHAs)
- Awareness in industry codes, standards and practices relevant to process design and safety (e.g. ASME, API, NFPA, ANSI, IEC) and Recognized and Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices (RAGAGEP)
- Good working knowledge of engineering software tools such as PHAST, PHA-Pro, Flare Sim
