Job Summary
Conduct television news reporting, pitch stories, write scripts, shoot video, interview subjects, and edit content for Spectrum News 1, TV, connected television, and digital platforms. Engage with community members to uncover local perspectives while managing flexible deadlines and breaking news cycles. Work across traditional and digital channels to deliver timely, accurate coverage that connects viewers through multiple platforms. Requires 3+ years of TV news experience, a Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism or Communications, and technical proficiency in video editing and social media. Valid driver's license and willingness to travel are essential.
Required Qualifications
- Television news reporting - 3+ years
- Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, or related field; or comparable television work experience
- Ability to shoot videos
- Understanding of video editing software
- Utilize social media effectively
- Ability to communicate effectively on camera
- Ability to communicate through writing
- Ability to communicate through verbal expression
- An innate curiosity
- A sense of urgency when it comes to creating compelling stories
- Lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds
- Must be open to travel to discover the important stories in your neighborhood
- Willing to interact with the community
- Ability to work under time pressure deadlines
- Willing and able to work different shifts
- Willing and able to work longer shifts due to breaking news and severe weather emergencies
- Ability work weekends
- Ability work holidays
- Valid driver's license for authorized driving in the state of residence
