Job Summary
Conduct original, unbiased reporting by interviewing community members, pitching stories, writing scripts, shooting video, and editing content across TV, connected television, and digital platforms. Own the full storytelling process from discovery to publication while collaborating with a team to deliver timely coverage on essential local issues. Work under time pressure with flexible deadlines, including weekends, holidays, and extended shifts for breaking news or severe weather emergencies. Maintain a valid driver's license for authorized travel to uncover neighborhood perspectives. Required Qualifications
- Television news reporting - 3+ years
- Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, or related field; or comparable television work experience
- Ability to shoot videos
- Understanding of video editing software
- Utilize social media effectively
- Ability to communicate effectively on camera and through writing and verbal expression
- An innate curiosity and a sense of urgency when it comes to creating compelling stories
- Lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds
- Must be open to travel to discover the important stories in your neighborhood and willing to interact with the community
- Ability to work under time pressure deadlines and willing and able to work different shifts or longer shifts due to breaking news and severe weather emergencies
- Ability work weekends and holidays
- Valid driver's license for authorized driving in the state of residence
