Job Summary
Conduct original, unbiased reporting by interviewing community members, pitching stories, writing scripts, shooting video, and editing content for TV, connected television, and digital platforms. Own the full storytelling process from research to publication while collaborating with a team to deliver timely coverage across traditional and digital channels. Work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays, to meet breaking news deadlines and severe weather emergencies. Travel to uncover local perspectives and interact with neighbors. Maintain accuracy and urgency in a fast-paced environment, leveraging curiosity to share inspiring news.
Required Qualifications
- Television news reporting - 3+ years
- Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, or related field; or comparable television work experience
- Ability to shoot videos
- Understanding of video editing software
- Utilize social media effectively
- Ability to communicate effectively on camera
- Ability to communicate through writing
- Ability to communicate through verbal expression
- An innate curiosity
- A sense of urgency when it comes to creating compelling stories
- Lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds
- Must be open to travel to discover the important stories in your neighborhood
- Willing to interact with the community
- Ability to work under time pressure deadlines
- Willing and able to work different shifts
- Willing and able to work longer shifts due to breaking news and severe weather emergencies
- Ability work weekends
- Ability work holidays
- Valid driver's license for authorized driving in the state of residence
