Job Summary
Research and develop news stories through inquiries with newsmakers and community figures on local, state, national, and international levels. Conduct on-camera field and studio interviews while researching, recording, reporting, and writing daily news stories adhering to journalistic standards and ethics. Create multi-platform content from stories for television, radio, digital, and social media by capturing, editing, and producing video and audio. Maintain relationships with news sources to identify story ideas and gather information, while collaborating on daily broadcast concepts and sharing newsmaker contacts. Manage data and collect information through updates to contact lists and archived files in accordance with Florida public records laws and the federal Freedom of Information Act. Participate in on-air fundraising campaigns and special events as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- eight years of directly related full-time experience
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization
- four years of full-time experience directly related to the job functions
- Professional, full time experience in broadcast news
- Professional, full time experience in public radio field reporting
- Professional, full time experience in interviewing
- Experience with public broadcasting
- Experience with audio digital editing
- Experience with FTP for audio production purposes
- Experience with field recording
- Superior on-air voice quality
- Superior network quality hosting
- Valid driver's license
