Job Summary
Multilingual Learner (MLL) Family Liaison in East Providence, RI — full-time role serving as the primary contact for MLL families, connecting them to school programs and wraparound supports, and supporting enrollment and district operations. Responsibilities include responding to questions about district services, leading workshops on MLL services and new arrival supports, building partnerships with community organizations, reviewing home language surveys and assessments for MLL placement, and maintaining accurate MLL student records for state/federal reporting. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, Human Services, or related field (or equivalent education/experience), strong cross-cultural communication, and the ability to work some evenings for family/community events. Bilingual ability in Spanish, Portuguese, or Cape Verdean Creole is strongly preferred; proficiency in Google Apps and data management is expected.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Social Work, Human Services, or related field OR equivalent education/experience
- Bilingual in Spanish, Portuguese, or Cape Verdean Creole strongly preferred
- Strong written and verbal English communication
- Experience with diverse populations; community outreach; program development/implementation
- Experience leading or facilitating group presentations
- Proficiency in Google Apps (Gmail, Calendar)
- Ability to collect, organize, and maintain data for reporting
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience with enrollment/registration processes and district services
