Job Summary

Teach ELD classes to multilingual learners aligned with WIDA Can-Do Descriptors, Common Core Standards, and complex texts. Plan accessible, scaffolded curricula and daily lessons that foster critical thinking. Promote a positive classroom environment celebrating student diversity while collaborating with general education colleagues on co-planning and co-teaching. Communicate proactively with families in culturally proficient ways and evaluate student progress in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Advocate for ML student needs on grade-level and instructional teams under the supervision of the building principal and ML Director. Review student proficiency levels and appropriate services to support academic language acquisition and achievement.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Master's Degree preferred
  • Required Massachusetts teaching certification/licensure in ESL for the appropriate grade level
  • Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) Endorsement
  • Ability to meet the expectations of the Massachusetts Standards and Indicators of Effective Teaching Practice
  • Safety Care Trained, or willing to be trained
  • Proficiency with technology (blended learning, teacher/family communication suites (Remind preferred), Google G-Suite Apps, etc.)
  • Minimum of 2 years teaching experience and working in an urban public school or charter school setting
  • Second language (Spanish and/or Portuguese) proficiency
  • Current authorization to work in the United States

Desired Qualifications

  • Dual Certification (appropriate grade level or Special Education)
  • Proficiency with technology (blended learning, teacher/family communication suites (Remind preferred), Google G-Suite Apps, etc.) desirable
  • Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the District, and/or in self-selected professional growth activities
