Job Summary
Collaborate with grade-level peers to provide rigorous, supportive curriculum for students qualifying for Multilingual Education supports. Monitor student learning using data to inform grouping decisions and lesson planning, while participating in weekly data teams to interpret progress and support colleagues. Teach assigned classes, groups, or programs, and provide Teaching Assistants with appropriate assignments and classroom guidance. Build positive relationships with students through proactive management systems and strong routines, while serving as the primary point of contact for student-family communication. Set up class newsletters, engage parents as volunteers, and ensure attendance at biannual conferences and required school events. Attend all assigned professional development and committee meetings to support ongoing school improvement.
Required Qualifications
- Valid teaching credential appropriate to their teaching assignment
- Teaching experience appropriate to the assignment
- Demonstrated commitment to and understanding of the Highline mission
- All teachers will be hired based on being highly qualified per No Child Left Behind (NCLB) specifications
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Be able to walk quickly, bend, kneel, crouch, sit, stand, grab or hold with one or both hands
- To be able to lift up to 40lbs without difficulty
- To maintain appropriate demeanor and professional classroom behavior when working with children and adults
- The ability to sit for extended periods during group training
