Job Summary
Prepare conceptual, schematic, and final project estimates for multifamily construction projects by reviewing architectural and structural plans to determine lumber and engineered wood product quantities. Identify scope gaps and discrepancies within drawings, then recommend alternative materials or construction methods to reduce costs while maintaining quality. Collaborate with suppliers, vendors, sales, purchasing, design, and operations to obtain current pricing and develop accurate budgets, ensuring all assumptions and scopes are clearly communicated to the operations team before construction begins. Stay informed of market conditions and product availability to support accurate project scoping and budgeting.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural construction plans
- Experience performing material quantity takeoffs
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and estimating or takeoff software
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across multiple departments
- Previous experience in construction estimating, preconstruction, multifamily construction, or a related field preferred
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of lumber, engineered wood products, framing systems, and building materials is preferred
