Job Summary
Develop and implement legal strategies aligned with multifamily real estate objectives while ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local laws. Identify and mitigate legal risks associated with property acquisitions, financing, and operations, providing support for leases, dispositions, and financing agreements. Oversee litigation and disputes, manage corporate governance matters including board meetings, and create policies to ensure regulatory compliance. Conduct training on fair housing laws and lease agreements, collaborating with development, finance, and property management teams to promote ethical business practices. This role requires a Juris Doctor (JD) degree and 10+ years of experience in real estate law.
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
- 10+ years of experience as in-house counsel or in a law firm, with a focus on real estate law, particularly in the multifamily sector
- Strong understanding of real estate transactions, property management, leasing, and compliance
- Proven ability to manage complex legal issues and provide strategic legal advice
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach to working with diverse teams
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Must provide list of 2-3 professional references
