Job Summary
Read blueprints and select insulation materials like fiberglass or foam based on heat retention and surface requirements. Move equipment, set up work sites, and measure or cut insulation using handsaws, knives, and tape measures. Prepare surfaces with adhesives or cement, then fit materials around obstructions and shape protective coverings. Cover and seal insulated surfaces with plastic, canvas, or tape using staple guns or caulking guns. Install sheet metal around pipes to protect insulation from weather and physical damage. Follow hazardous waste guidelines, remove old asbestos if needed, and complete records while maintaining tools. Work at heights safely and comply with all project rules and personal safety equipment requirements.

- Plan work and select proper tools
- Compare and see differences in the size, shape and form of lines, figures and objects
- Visualize objects in three dimensions from plans and drawings
- Make decisions based on measurable criteria

- Follows all hazardous waste handling guidelines
- May remove or seal off old asbestos insulation, following safety procedures
- Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules, including wearing required personal safety equipment
