Job Summary

Multi-Tissue Recovery Coordinator (0.75 FTE) based in Toronto, Ontario, supporting surgical recovery of ocular tissue, bones, heart valves, skin and eyes across Ontario. Responsibilities include coordinating tissue recovery, evaluating donor medical suitability, handling tissue packaging/transport, performing technical duties (medical chart review, blood draw, physical examination of the deceased), assisting with documentation, QA and transport of tissues/blood samples, and occasional travel to remote sites. Requires university/college degree in health sciences or related field, relevant certification/assets, 4+ years in health-sciences donation/recovery contexts, strong organizational skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, physical ability to lift up to 35 lbs, valid G license and vehicle, and flexibility for varied 24-hour shifts; based in downtown Toronto with province-wide travel. Rate of Pay: CAD 70,474.13 - 88,092.94 per annum pro-rated to 0.75 FTE; Location: Toronto, ON; Ontario Health promotes inclusivity and accommodations in recruitment; vaccination confirmation may be required.

Required Qualifications

  • University degree or college diploma in health sciences, nursing (RPN), funeral services, pathology assistant, paramedicine, biological sciences or a recognized equivalent
  • Certification in eye or tissue banking, blood banking or laboratory technology is an asset
  • Four (4) years’ work experience in a health sciences environment specifically in organ and tissue donation, tissue recovery and processing, operating room, pathology, paramedicine, funeral services or clinical laboratory medical setting is preferred or a combination of equivalent experience and education
  • Perioperative or Operating Room certificate is an asset
  • Knowledge of ORNAC standards of practice an asset
  • Experience working in a morgue is an asset
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills in stressful situations
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality; sound judgment
  • Ability to lift parcels up to 35 lbs and move patients
  • Valid class G driver's license and reliable vehicle
  • Must be located within 65 km of the TGLN office
  • Must be located in Ontario; fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or accommodation
