Job Summary
Under the direction of the Technical Supervisor, perform a diversity of clinical laboratory testing and quality control activities across designated areas. Conduct routine and highly complex laboratory analysis for neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients, including specimen collection via venipuncture. Verify results through in-depth knowledge of techniques, principles, and instrumentation while identifying causes and applying solutions to recognized problems. May be assigned as Charge Tech for off-shifts and weekends. Requires minimum one to three years of hospital laboratory experience, BS or BA in a relevant science, and valid MT, MLS, or equivalent certification. Salary range $31.87-$49.13 for full-time employment.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of one to three years' experience as a laboratory technician or technologist in a hospital setting
- May be assigned as Charge Tech for off-shifts and weekends
- Must be able to perform specimen collection by venipuncture as required
- Meets all training requirements for high complexity testing as defined under 42 CFR Section 493.1489; or 493.1491, of the Federal Regulations
- MT (ASCP), MLS (ASCP); MT (HHS); MT (HEW); CLS (NCA) or equivalent
- Must have the ability to perform the essential functions of the position without posing a direct threat to the health and safety of themselves or other individuals in the workplace, with or without a reasonable accommodation
Desired Qualifications
- BS or BA in a chemical, biological or physical science or medical Technology training with at least one year of laboratory training or experience, or have previously qualified or could have qualified as a General Supervisor under 42 CFR 493.1461 of the Federal Regulations published March 14, 1990 [55FR 9538] on or before February 28, 1992, or have completed post-secondary education and degree requirements sufficient to obtain certification as described below
