Job Summary

Conduct routine maintenance on hospital boilers, chillers, plumbing, electrical systems, locks, and security equipment, checking steam boilers twice daily during after-hours and weekend calls. Provide transportation services for community patients via the hospital shuttle bus, adhering to specific pick-up and drop-off schedules while maintaining a clean interior and safe driving practices in all weather conditions. Handle keys, radios, and equipment per policy, inspect vehicles for maintenance issues, and resolve problems through planning and problem-solving. Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local codes, safety regulations, and accreditation standards while supporting a culture of quality and patient confidentiality.

Required Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Minimum one year experience in at least one of the trades related to the position
  • Valid Texas Driver's license
  • Clean driving record
  • Current BLS
  • Adheres to dress code, appearance is neat and clean
  • Completes annual education requirements
  • Maintains regulatory requirements, including all federal, state, local and NFPA regulations and accrediting organization standards
  • Maintains and ensures patient confidentiality at all times
  • Reports to work on time and as scheduled
  • Wears identification while on duty
  • Attends annual review and performs departmental in-services
  • Supports and maintains a culture of safety and quality
  • Support CMH's mission, vision, core values and customer service philosophy
  • Adhere to the CMH Compliance Program
  • Assures/maintains compliance with all accreditation, statutory and regulatory standards at the local, state, and federal levels
  • Comply with all organizational policies
  • Demonstrate outstanding customer service/advocacy, professionalism and integrity
  • Basic Microsoft computer skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Strong reasoning/critical thinking skills
  • Excellent time management, collaboration, prioritization and problem-solving skills
  • Willingness to adapt to change and support new technologies as well as policies and procedures in a positive manner
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Knowledge of hospital's management and utility systems management
  • Possess the ability to work under pressure
  • Good driving skills
  • Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients
  • Position requires moderate to heavy lifting 50-100lbs
  • Position requires reaching, bending, stooping, and handling objects with hands and/or fingers, talking and/or hearing, and seeing
  • Mental demands include: alertness, analytic ability, memory, concentration, judgment, initiative, precision, creativity and communication
  • Rotates in taking after hours and weekend call
  • Steam boiler must be checked twice daily when on call
  • Maintains and follows a specific pick-up and drop-off schedule
  • Possesses knowledge of, and stays current with, state traffic and criminal and civil statutes relevant to motor vehicle operations
  • Possess the ability to drive safely in all types of weather
  • Handles and maintains keys, radios and equipment per the hospital's policies and procedures
  • Inspects vehicle for routine maintenance
  • Communicates appropriately and clearly to manager, co-workers and other hospital staff
  • Maintains a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments
  • Interacts professionally with all patients
  • Recognizes and responds appropriately to the unique needs of varying age groups with home he/she has contact
  • Recognizes and responds to safety factors for age level involved
  • Attends committee, CQI and management meetings, as appropriate
  • Resolves staff concerns at the departmental level, utilizing the grievance process as required
  • Ensures compliance with policies and procedures regarding department operations, fire safety, emergency management and infection prevention and control
  • Communicates the mission, ethics and goals of the hospital, as well as the focus statement of the department
  • Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices
  • Appreciation of and desire to be part of a health care team dedicated to providing patients optimal care

Desired Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a shuttle driver preferred
