Job Summary
Multi-Line Property & Casualty Claims Representative in East Lansing, MI. Investigates, negotiates, adjusts, and resolves designated PC claims across multiple lines (general liability, auto liability, auto physical damage, PIP, property, medical payments, and select specialty coverages). Serves as primary member contact, delivering high-quality customer service through timely communication, sound judgment, and adherence to claims handling guidelines. Maintains accurate documentation, explains coverage decisions clearly, negotiates within settlement authority, and coordinates external investigators, vendors, and attorneys. Collaborates with risk management, underwriting, and claims leadership to achieve effective outcomes; travel and periodic remote work allowed. Requires strong claim knowledge, excellent communication, and ability to manage a diverse caseload with independence and professional discretion.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher
- Minimum of two years of claims experience handling multi-line claims or equivalent
- Knowledge of coverage, liability, and complex claims handling procedures
- Ability to handle complex case-related tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to travel and work remotely on a periodic basis
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and documentation/tracking tools
- Commitment to continuous learning including ongoing education with industry training (IIA, AIC or INS or other)
