Multi-Craft Technician

Job Summary

Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair all plant equipment, including microprocessor controls, motors, and hydraulic systems. Modify prints and schematics, perform minor masonry work, and execute weldments for sheet metal fabrication. Conduct preventive maintenance, inspect circuit boards, and rig machine parts for removal while using precision measuring devices. Collaborate with technicians on installation, plumbing of air and hydraulic lines, and completing paperwork for repairs. Maintain safety protocols, including lockout/tag-out procedures and proper PPE, while adhering to OSHA guidelines and environmental policies. Work flexible hours, weekends, and nights, including Sundays through Thursdays from 11 PM to 3 PM.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 5 years of experience in maintenance related activities
  • 2-year Technical degree in related discipline
  • Must successfully pass job-specific testing
  • Must successfully pass mechanical aptitude test
  • Qualified in general industrial electricity (440v, motors, low voltage controls)
  • Working knowledge of PLC
  • Ability to read and draw prints and schematics
  • Must successfully pass Mechanical Comprehension test
  • Knowledge of basic maintenance tools such as wrenches, power tools, hand tools, arc, mig and tig welding and acetylene torch
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds
  • Experience in welding/fabrication of heavy and light sheet metal
  • Basic knowledge of press, grinders, metal shear, break and roll
  • Must be able to interpret and respond to written and verbal instructions
  • Must be able to work in height-related area over 15 feet
  • Must obtain and maintain Class II lift truck license
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, weekends and holidays
  • Must be able to work 11 PM to 3 PM, Sundays through Thursdays
  • Must communicate effectively within the department, with internal customers, sister plants, and vendors
  • Must adhere to the Compliance and Ethics Program Policy and the Whistleblowing Policy
  • Must follow all SDS guidelines as they apply to the materials used to perform the job
  • Must wear proper PPE as required
  • Must use safe driving habits while operating company owned vehicles
  • Must use safe lifting/ material handling practices and techniques
  • Must adhere to OSHA and Corporate guidelines for lock out/tag out policy
  • Must be able to safely rig machine parts for removal from equipment
  • Ability to use multi-meter to check live circuit
  • Ability to make all necessary weldments and perform minor masonry work
  • Ability to use measuring devices (precision equal to machinist) such as micrometers, gauges, calipers, and other measuring devices necessary to troubleshoot and repair equipment
  • Ability to repair and maintain electric motors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, electrical and mechanical control systems, lighting systems, and power transmission systems
  • Legibly and accurately complete all paperwork

Desired Qualifications

  • Must obtain and maintain class II lift truck license
  • Electronic and mechanical training on plant equipment to include, but not limited to, centerless grinders, inspection machines, furnaces, cold forming machines, etc.
  • Vehicle safety awareness
  • Confined Space Non Permit
  • Lockout-Tag out Affected training
  • Pay progression is based on experience, demonstrated performance, extra certifications/courses, etc.
