Job Summary
Perform refrigeration repair, kitchen equipment maintenance, and HVAC diagnostics for residence halls and dining facilities while providing multi-crafted support in electrical, plumbing, and carpentry tasks. Analyze work orders, prioritize repairs, and coordinate with other trades to ensure all work meets industry standards. Respond to emergency calls 24/7, work weekends and overtime as needed, and drive a university vehicle to transport equipment and supplies. Maintain inventory, complete preventive maintenance documentation, and participate in safety training and lockout/tagout programs.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduation or GED
- At least 5 years of experience building construction, mechanical, or utilities trade specified with at least 3 of those years being journey level experience
- Experience with tools and equipment common to the trades specified
- Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate
- Class C operator's driver's license
- Current three year driving record from the current state of residence
- If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident
- Successful completion of testing for strength and agility prior to employment
Desired Qualifications
- More than five (5) years of journey level kitchen equipment cold side refrigeration experience
- Electrical experience installing conduit, wiring, controls, and repair of multiple electrical systems in commercial and residential
- Licensed by the State of Texas as a master or journey level HVAC technician
- Commercial and residential renovation experience
- Experience in maintenance and repair of apartments or residence halls
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability to receive, respond, and follow through with written and verbal work-related instructions from supervisors, customers, and co-workers
