Job Summary
Lead, mentor, and rehearse the Laurier Funk Ensemble, a dynamic in-person, large-scale performance group focused on Funk, R&B/Soul, Gospel, and Jazz Fusion. Prepare diverse student ensemble repertoire for a capstone concert each academic term, collaborating in a professional environment to study and perform music across foundational genres. Requires a Master’s degree in Music (or equivalent combination of significant experience and training) and prior ensemble-directing experience in a post-secondary or professional conservatory setting. Asset: established national or international reputation as an active performer or bandleader. Position is part-time, Fall 2026 – Winter 2027, based in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. Applicants will submit materials via CAF with CV, teaching dossier, and other required documents; in accordance with applicable collective agreements.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Music
- Significant, high-level professional industry experience and academic training
- Prior experience directing ensembles within a post-secondary or professional conservatory environment
- Demonstrated mastery in Funk, Jazz, Rhythm and Blues, Gospel, or closely related contemporary popular music idioms
