Job Summary

Provide individual and small-group academic interventions in reading, mathematics, and study skills as directed by certified staff. Implement evidence-based strategies consistent with established MTSS plans while reinforcing positive behavior, social skills, and student engagement. Assist students with transitions, routines, and classroom participation, then collect and maintain progress-monitoring data to evaluate intervention effectiveness. Communicate student progress and concerns to teachers, counselors, and administrators, and participate in MTSS or problem-solving meetings when requested. Supervise students in classrooms and other school settings while maintaining confidentiality of all records in accordance with FERPA and District policies.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Meet applicable federal, State of Michigan, and District requirements for paraprofessional employment based on the position and funding source.
  • Ability to work effectively with students with varying academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs.
  • Ability to follow instructional and intervention plans developed by certified staff.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and student data.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise appropriate professional judgment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a school-based team.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the District

Desired Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with school-age children.
  • Experience providing academic or behavioral interventions.
  • Experience working within an MTSS, PBIS, intervention, or student-support framework.
  • Coursework or training in education, child development, behavioral support, or a related field.
  • Experience collecting progress-monitoring or student performance data.
