Job Summary
Member of Technical Staff 1 (Software Engineer) on the Cloud Data Technologies (CDT) team at eBay who can work independently and design, build, test, and deploy software components for a highly available, large distributed data platform. Responsibilities include delivering high-quality releases, maintaining uptime and reliability SLAs, and collaborating with product management, customers, and engineers. The role requires 6+ years of software design/implementation experience, a Bachelor’s/Master’s/Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering or related field, and proficiency in Java (preferred) or Python, along with strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems. Familiarity with open-source technologies, agile methodologies, and experience translating requirements into high-quality engineering work are valued. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s/Master’s/Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering or related field
- 6+ years work experience in software design and implementation
- Expertise in object-oriented design and backend software development using Java (preferred), Python, or similar technologies
- Excellent understanding of computer science fundamentals, data structures, algorithms and distributed systems
- Experience with agile development methodologies
- Experience using open-source technologies and/or contributing to open source software
