Job Summary
Review all laboratory policies and procedures, recommend improvements, and stay current with organizational communications. Operate all laboratory equipment, perform maintenance and calibration, and monitor quality control requirements. Perform patient testing on blood, body fluids, and tissues across chemistry, microbiology, hematology, and other sections, while identifying and correcting specimen or instrument issues. Conduct phlebotomy duties as assigned and participate in proficiency testing and special projects. Use appropriate safety devices and PPE when handling biohazardous materials.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors of Science Degree including completion of an approved Clinical Laboratory Science program
- MT (ASCP, AMT or equivalent)
- Technically competent in trained laboratory sections and is capable of performing patient care for all age groups
- Associates Degree in Science or Laboratory Science / Medical Laboratory Technician Clinical Program
- MLT(ASCP, AMT or equivalent) or 3 months documented training in each specialty in which high complexity testing is performed
- Technically competent in trained laboratory sections and is capable of performing patient care for all age groups
- Demonstrates support for organizational and departmental mission
- Supports and demonstrates knowledge of the Strategic Plan and the Hospital Key Initiatives
- Fosters and promotes teamwork within department and the organization as a whole
- Works to resolves conflicts constructively and in a timely manner
- Ability to communicate effectively and simply with every customer and co-worker
- Ability to display a positive, courteous and friendly attitude toward all contacts
- Ability to build good relationships with others based on a sustained effort of mutual support toward common goals
- Ability to exercise good judgment, reasoning and concentration to detail and to take personal accountabilities for all actions in carrying out job duties
