Job Summary
Perform laboratory testing on blood and body fluid specimens, including specimen collection, processing, analysis, and result reporting. Ensure accurate, timely testing and maintain quality control, calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment. Monitor specimen integrity, identify testing issues, and follow corrective action procedures when needed. Maintain compliance with safety, infection control, confidentiality, PPE, and regulatory requirements. Manage laboratory supplies, reagents, and equipment to support efficient operations. Communicate test results and critical values effectively with physicians, nurses, providers, and other healthcare staff. Participate in quality assurance, proficiency testing, performance improvement, and laboratory quality programs. Assist with training, competency validation, continuing education, and collaboration to support patient care and departmental goals. Supports emergency preparedness, life safety initiatives, and adherence to hospital policies and accreditation standards. Full-time, third shift.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related science
- Two years of college coursework in biology and chemistry
- Completion of an accredited Medical Technology or related science program
- Certification as MLT (AMT), MLS (ASCP), CLT (NCA), or equivalent
- Certification must be obtained within one year of hire if not already held
- Drug-free workplace status (post offer, pre-employment drug testing)
